2009, I’ve been waiting for you.

Happy New Year, everyone. :) Just a warning to you readers, I’m currently on my seventh glass of wine. So if you see any typos or grammatical errors… you know.

It’s 2:00AM and the fireworks being set off have decreased. I can still hear a few in the distance, but it’s not as noisy as it was two hours ago. The smoke is gradually disappearing. I’m stuffed full of roast chicken, ham, and mashed potatoes. The half-empty wine bottle is resting on my lap. :D

I keep trying to think of things I want to do this year, things I want to accomplish. Not exactly New Year’s resolutions, since I haven’t made those in five years. So let’s just call these things goals that I may or may not try to accomplish this year, since calling them resolutions might feel like too much commitment for me. :D

  • Break out of my comfort zone and try something new. This is going to be particularly difficult, since I’m probably the most unadventurous person on the face of the earth.
  • Travel. I’ve promised my cousins that I would visit them in Davao soon, and I guess this would be the perfect opportunity to plan a trip there. Time to search for the perfect Samsonite luggage set, I guess?
  • Drink less. I am by no means an alcoholic, but I have noticed that my drinking actually increased in 2008. Better tone it down.
  • Meet more people. I’m not a very friendly person. Don’t get me wrong, I can be perfectly friendly if we’ve known each other for a few months or so – or if you approach me first. But unless you make the first move to talk to me, you won’t be hearing a word. I think I need to work on my abnormal social skills.
  • Get more sleep. I’ve turned into an insomniac. I usually spend half the night tossing and turning on the bed.
  • Start eating healthy. Need I say more?

I’m bound to break the last goal in the morning, since I’m having a pizza day with my cousins. I hope there’s beer, although I seriously, honestly, doubt there will be.

I plan to have a new layout up soon, although I feel quite reluctant to take the current one down. But I eventually will put a new one up, when I get that much needed burst of inspiration.

Oh, and I just realized! Twenty days until my 20th birthday! Oh goody!

  1. Ooooh to gorgeous webpage right now! I feel like I’ve been an insomniac lately too… it started with university and now I don’t even know why it continues to happen but I cannot fall asleep until 3-4am. I see we are “stuck in different years right now” as it is only 8:30pm, 2008 for me but best best best wishes for 2009! I REALLY hope it has started well for you! Take care! I’ll check back often!

  2. Drink less? The problem with that is that one of the first things I usually do after the clock strikes 12 is have wine or champagne or something stronger. lol

    I hope you’ll have an amazing 2009!

  3. These sound like great resolutions, and all perfectly attainable :) Good luck with them!

I had five drinks (maybe even less) in total the entire of last year, down from like.. five drinks weekly, so it’s not that hard to cut down!

  4. Happy New Year, to you too. :) It’s strange, but I’ve not seemed to be into the whole alcoholic thing — beer smells foul to me, and the champagne I had a while ago tasted much too acerbic — my brother tells me it’s an acquired taste, so we’ll see! Maybe ‘drink more’ should me one of my goals :P Though, I heartily agree with sleep more! I end up so ridiculously sleep-deprived during university that I succumb to illness towards the end of the semester! :(
