Ingrid Michaelson: Everybody

EverybodyI’m such a music geek, and Ingrid fan, so I’ll admit that I’ve been waiting for this album to come out since December of last year, when it was still referred to as an untitled LP.

Ingrid did not disappoint. I loved the album upon the first listen (I initially download a low quality rip from Rapidshare), I ended up buying a 320kbps digital download from the shop. I ended up copying the files to mom’s laptop, since she’s also an Ingrid fan.

So far, my absolute favorite is Mountain And The Sea. But overall, the whole album is really really good.

I’ve asked a friend who’s coming home from the States to buy me a physical copy of the album. Hopefully, I’ll get my hands on it when she comes home. I’m looking forward to hearing A Fine Frenzy’s album too, which is coming out soon.

I want a smiley tennis dampener.

I’ve been to too many sporting goods stores and I cannot, for the life of me, find a smiley dampener for my tennis racquet. :(

I’ve been thinking of having one made with glass tile, but I’m afraid it might shatter if it gets hit by a tennis ball. The only dampeners I’ve found in local sporting goods stores, are brand logos. I just think a smiley dampener would suit my racquet more since it’s yellow.

I’m going to check out the sporting goods stores in Quiapo soon. Maybe I’ll get lucky and find a smiley dampener there.

Fangirl

I’ve finally found a torrent for a DVDRip of the PaleyFest 2008 Buffy Reunion. Yay. I’ve only seen bits of it in Youtube so I’m really looking forward to seeing the whole thing. I’ll probably watch it tonight.

I’ve also been doing a bit of Audrey Hepburn fangirling the past few days. I picked up Enchantment: The Life of Audrey Hepburn by Donald Spoto and re-read it again. I hope to get Barry Paris’ biography of Audrey Hepburn soon. I’ve had no luck finding it so far.

Wrapping this entry up now. I’ll blog again this week, just have to check out this barcode scanner that my brother brought home.

Also, if you haven’t yet, check out The Script. :) Nice band.

Joanna Wang is not good for my productivity.

I was in the mood to listen to something soothing tonight so I decided to dig out some of my old Joanna Wang MP3s and listen to them instead of the usual Chris Thile that I listen to at 2AM. I also planned to accomplish some extra work tonight.

On Thursday, while hanging out with Lyndon, he mentioned that whenever he listens to Joanna Wang, he suddenly finds himself spacing out. I laughed at him.

Tonight, I found myself zoning out as well, while I was listening to Joanna Wang. It was like downing a whole bucket of diet pills.

Of course, Lyndon just couldn’t help but say “I told you so” when I mentioned zoning out too, while listening to Joanna Wang. Because she really is that awesome, you just have to stop whatever you’re doing to listen. :P

Getting a new guitar

I’ve recently decided to start playing the guitar again. :P It just suddenly came up while I was looking at accredited online degrees. Random, yes. The guitar is probably the only instrument I can really play, among all the instruments I studied.

A few friends are going to help me select a decent guitar soon, since my old guitar is falling apart. We’re going to look in Sta. Mesa in a couple of weeks. I still don’t know when. I’m really looking forward to it.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to take it more seriously now. I still remember most of the chords I learned while I was taking lessons.

Well that was a stressful week

The past week was so stressful, I had to stay in the whole Saturday to recover. :P

It was Kevin’s last week here in the Philippines, so we had to make it memorable. We took him to Pan De Amerikana, where we played chess on the giant chessboard (I was steamrollered). I think he had a lot of fun that day, even though it rained. We also took him to catch the shuttle to Clark early Thursday morning to catch his flight to Malaysia. I had to function on two hours of sleep that day. Unfortunately, he missed the shuttle, so he had to take a cab. Good thing he didn’t need long distance movers.

Work has been somewhat stressful too. I’ve had to refresh my Flash knowledge for a certain project, so I’ve had many sleepless nights. But whatever.

I’ll come up with a decent blog soon. :P

HTML5

I’ve spent the past few hours reading about HTML5. I was also able to convert my current blog design to HTML5 and CSS3. It’s interesting, and was actually rather fast – but I think I’ll stick with XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1 at the moment. I was able to find a fix to make the new HTML5 elements work in IE, but when I tried using CSS3, things started to get messy in IE.

Reading about it was interesting, though. The new elements like <nav> and <time> can make the markup easier to understand – especially for beginners. It was a little confusing at the beginning, though. I also think the <header> element is a bit unnecessary, especially when used with <hgroup> . Aren’t all the headings – h1 to h6 – already semantic?

I guess the only thing stopping me from using HTML5 and CSS3 is the fact that about 40% of my blog’s viewers still use IE6 (switch to Firefox or Opera, people!). I guess it’s enough that I’ve learned about it, like reading about best diet pills. Maybe we’ll be able to use HTML5 and CSS3 in 3-4 years – but we’ll probably still hate IE (cross browser compatibility, you are the bane of my – blogging and professional – existence). :D
