Say hello to Chance, my Labrador Retriever. He turns 2 years old today.
Let me tell you a little more about this dog. He was given to me two years ago by a friend as an 18th birthday gift. I remember that day clearly. I was asked to go to my friend’s house, because they had no idea how to deliver puppies. One had already died.
I had a little bit of experience because we used to breed Dachshunds.
When I say a little bit, I mean a little bit. I’ve watched my parents do it a lot of times, but I’ve never had any hands on experience. And Dachshunds are small dogs, compared to Labrador Retrievers, which are practically giants. So there I was, along with two other people from the house. Luckily, their mother was used to us and was well-trained.
It was a little scary because the mother didn’t know how to break the sac which held the puppy, so we had to do it ourselves. In the end, we delivered three live puppies. There were supposed to be four, but like I mentioned before, the other one died. It was because the sac had been broken too late.
They ended up giving me one of the puppies, Chance. I decided to name him after the American Bulldog from the movie Homeward Bound. Funny, he ended up being as silly as Chance from the movie.
I’m thinking of going out today and getting him a leash. Or maybe pet supplements?
