I don’t go to movie theaters often. The thing about our family is, we all seem to be stuck in the past – entertainment-wise. My father and I like to bond over classic movies (particularly that of Hitchcock and Cukor). I have a deep admiration for Grace Kelly. My older brother and I are fans of The Beatles, Blondie, The Sex Pistols, and Jethro Tull.
My DVD collection includes 32 Alfred Hitchcock suspense flicks, Gone With The Wind, Wuthering Heights, My Fair Lady, a few horror flicks… and Garden State.
While shopping for my costume for my brother’s 70s party tomorrow (I’m going to wear a purple and white dress, yellow tights, pumps, an orange headband and large hoop earrings), Jeremiah and I decided to go DVD shopping as well.
The good news: they lowered the prices on the classic titles.
The bad news: I couldn’t find a DVD of To Kill A Mockingbird.
Still, I walked out of the shop feeling very happy. The new additions to my DVD collection:
- Casablanca (which is actually a gift from Jeremiah)
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s
- Roman Holiday (I got that instead of To Kill A Mockingbird. It still has Gregory Peck.)
- Sabrina
- Funny Face
- Charade
…Audrey Hepburn is trying to dominate my collection. She won’t beat Hitchcock’s reign, though.
